Tutorial

✽  Materials

  • Tea towel
  • Dried citrus half
  • Acrylic or fabric paint
  • Paint brush/roller/plate
  • Printer paper/newspaper

✽  Steps

  •  1. Lay your tea towel on a flat surface. You want to ensure there won't be creases or folds that will alter how your print will come out!
  •  2. Apply paint to your dried citrus half. You may dip/dab/roll/brush the paint on in whatever manner works best for you! You do want to have goldilocks proportions of paint, not too much or too little to achieve the best print.
  •  3. Practice! To ensure that your tea towel comes out just as you'd like, practice your printing technique on a piece of printer paper or newspaper.
  • 4. Stamp your towel. Once you feel confident in your technique it's time to transition to your tea towel. Whether you have a planned-out pattern or want to stamp randomly, now is the time to execute it.
  • 5. Hang to dry. The last step is to let your piece fully dry. Once it's dry it's ready to rock. You may also iron it at home (under parchment paper) to further bind the paint to the towel.
