July 25 Saturday Art Exploration

Date: Saturday, July 25
Time: 10am-1pm (3 hrs)
Ages: Ages 5-8 encouraged. Older welcome. 4 y/o may be admitted on case-by-case basis depending on instructor capacity.

Our Saturday Art Explorations are a drop-off kids workshop (ages 5-8 recommended) where kids have a self-guided, instructor supported art project to work on.

Each month we will aim to host one of these sessions, typically on Saturday mornings before our 2pm Open Studio time.

For July 25, we will have Independent Study. See below for an overview of what that will look like!

  1. [first 30 minutes] Arrival & planning. As students arrive, the instructors will give the students a tour of the craft closet so they can see what supplies are available for the day. Once seated, students will begin to draw their plan for the craft they want to do. The plan will include a list of supplies needed (we will have a written list of supplies to circle and write quantity next to).
  2. [next 30 minutes] Instructors will meet with the kids to review and discuss their plan and supply list, and then once finalized - we will 'go shopping' for the supply list in the craft closet!

  3.  [hour 2] Students will get to work on their projects! Gluing, painting, cutting, building, decorating, experimenting, etc.! Instructors will be supporting and offering advice and instruction as needed. Additional trips to the supply closet available on request :).

  4. [last hour] Depending on how things are going, we will use another 30 minutes for craft time. Once everyone is done, we will have clean up time. Each young artist will be responsible for their station.

  5. Once we are all cleaned up, it is time for show & tell! Each student will have the chance to show off their final piece, tell us about the construction of the piece, and answer any questions the audience has.

  6. Independent sketching time until pickup, as time allows.

  7. Pick up time!

Please ensure your child wears clothing that can get messy! We have aprons, but mess has a way to evade aprons when creativity is at its height.
